As I watch my students listen to stories being read to them, many fidget on the carpet or tip the hard wooden chairs back and forth at the tables. Through this project I'm asking for yoga balls and classroom Neorock stools. I feel as my students listen to Leo The Late Bloomer, Amber Brown, Holes, Call Of The Wild, and many more stories they would be more attentive if they could move in place while sitting and following along to the story being read to them. Some come with very limited to no English and being read to and exposed to as many stories will help them learn a new language. As I quote Jim Trelease from his read aloud handbook "The single most important activity for building the knowledge required for eventual success in reading is reading aloud to children." "The more you read, the better you get at it; the better you get at it, the more you like it; and the more you like it, the more you do it. And the more you read, the more you know; and the more you know, the smarter you grow."
