Our school is a Title I school that is situated in rural Sumter County, Alabama with just over 500 students ranging from grades kindergarten through 8th grade. Though, I believe in my students and their goals and aspirations, it is not difficult to understand that being in an impoverished school system and socio-economic situations, there are limited resources, limited academic experiences, and exposures that hinders our students from realizing their greatest potentials.
My classroom is one of the areas that has been designated to provide uninterrupted targeted instructions to students who are experiencing reading difficulties (reading intervention). With teacher support, the appropriate resources, and with greater exposure to learning opportunities, our students will be afforded the opportunities to excel.
