This year we have many English Language Learners in our classroom. Many knew little or no English when they first started. We have adapted and found that increasing our play has increased our students' learning because we can increase our interactions without overwhelming them with new words. I'm excited to see how these "toys" will build excitement and chatter in our classroom... and also increase opportunities to talk about the alphabet.
Each of the toys that we have chosen such as the Magnetic Alphabet Maze, Alpha-Bots and Alphabet Beads, has been picked to draw out our students and build language skills while also encouraging cooperative play with other students and increasing alphabet knowledge.
Learning should be fun and these will also encourage their imaginations!
