Reading is essential to one's success in life. Third grade reading it vital to succeed in the upper grades. This is the grade where students transition from learning to read into reading to learn. Helping students dive deep into what they are reading can be a challenging task. In order to do this, students must be introduced to various books, genres, and text levels.
I am requesting a variety of children's books that will be used to teach weekly skills and students will dive into them to deepen comprehension and thinking, learn new vocabulary, and strengthen grammar skills.
Each week, a different book will be introduced along with a nonfiction paired text. Students will be exposed to these forms of literature all throughout the week and various skills will be taught. These books consists of many different genre, levels, and culture background so that all students will find interest and be motivated to comprehend and strengthen their skills.
Lesson plans and games will be created along with these books to encourage participation and comprehension. By the end of the year, the students will have exposure to over 40 texts, and their journey of reading will take them places they may never go in person!
