I teach a 5th grade class located in the San Fernando Valley in California. We are located on the bottom floor of a two story building. The majority of my students are from a Latino background. I have 28 students who really enjoy the arts; 12 are girls and 16 are boys. They are eager to show what they can do, and they are blossoming more each day.
The classroom layout gives the students the ability to collaborate and do research. The classroom has 6 groups of tables with a kidney table for small groups. There are also three large windows on the right side of the classroom that make the classroom feel warm and inviting, a library with room for students to meet in a small group , and a cart with laptops is available for each student.
The theme I chose for the classroom is the beach/ocean. It is very soothing and calming with a combination of earth tones and some bright colors such as blues and oranges.
