I teach Pre-K in a Title 1 school which means 95% of my students receive free and reduced lunches. Most of them live with many families in a small environment. They, at one time or another, may have been in a shelter for a short time also. They don't know the experience of having new things or even consistency. To give you an example, I actually have a student that is excited to even take a bath once a week. During Christmas many of them had the opportunity to make items to share at home because they didn't have anything or possibly even a tree.
