Hands on activities are extremely important when teaching new concepts. Unfortunately, providing students with spelling lists and expecting them to study is not always effective. When teaching new spelling patterns we have found that students are engaged when they are able to build new words. By having these lowercase magnetic letter, we will be able to work with small groups to provide close to one on one instructions for building and learning spelling patters. Students will be able to use the letters to construct words, as well as move them around until they are successful in retaining each spelling pattern.
