We all have different ways of learning. Math manipulatives assist students see a concept with concrete examples before moving on to something abstract. It also provides them with hands on practice.
These supplies provide students math tools to help them understand adding and subtracting within 100 and 1000. Ten-Frames help students make a ten to add. It helps them see the relationship when deconstructing and reconstructing numbers. A 100s number chart that students are able to reuse, provides students an opportunity to add and abstract numerous times; this is a more environmentally friendly alternative to paper. Connecting cubes and Number Base Ten blocks both assist with student understanding when regrouping.
I'm also requesting math charts for our carpet time. The charts provide another opportunity for students to interact with math.
