My students love to read all things non-fiction! Many of them come from low-income families and English Language Learning homes. Being able to provide them with relevant and current news articles to read, discuss, and write about will definitely open their eyes to the world around them and beyond our community. Scholastic News provides grade-level appropriate non-fiction text for students along with digital support that they can access through their Chromebooks or whole class viewing. Using the articles gives my students a chance to read, discuss, and respond to text in an authentic way and then bring the text home to their families.
