The books I chose for my library will be checked out by my 9th grade students and read during silent sustained reading time every day. I chose the books specifically with certain students in mind, and believe I have put together a collection that reflects the diversity of my students. I have included many graphic novels and fantasy novels, as well as some that deal with current, relative social issues.
I believe this thoughtfully chosen library will engage some of my students in reading as they've never been engaged before--they will become readers! The benefits of being a reader are endless, but they start with an increased confidence and success in all classes in high school. I love my students and only want the best for them. This book collection is a token of that love.
