Our school has a STEM/Makerspace lab program, but we would like to enhance our lab with more high tech instructional materials.
An important aspect of STEM is robotics, coding, and computer science. As the STEM facilitator at our school, I want to ensure that all our students, including our underrepresented group of students, those that have very little exposure to STEM-related experiences outside of school, are exposed while in our building.
The Sphero Minis will enable me to not only equip our STEM/Makerspace lab with an exciting tool to teach coding but to also open our students to a whole new STEM experience that will enrich their learning experiences in computer science and engineering.
Sphero minis are a great way for students to get excited about coding. The ability to start small and help students build on their knowledge and then transition their understanding from Scratch block coding to javascript is the goal. The students in our 3- 5 grades would be able to use the Sphero Minis to begin coding applications.
As of right now, we have two Sphero minis and the children love it. I can't wait to add 8 more to the lab so that students can work in groups and not just at a center to program codes and control the Sphero mini.
