In the 10 years I have worked in my school the number of classrooms for children on the autism spectrum has tripled! The item I am requesting will be shared among these nine classrooms and will change the future for so many of these children.
Each year I have students that engage in disruptive behaviors (sometimes dangerous) in order to attain the sensory input they need. They will climb, jump off furniture, roll on the floor, crawl in small places, or simply be unable to stay in a chair. Their bodies need something we can not provide. This rolling machine will allow these sensory seeking students to gain the input their bodies need in a safe way; improving their focus and attention. When their body's needs are met they can focus on communication and making friends!
