I teach engineering and robotics in Fort Worth ISD. I am a big advocate of engineering and STEM. Kids spend all day in school hearing about poetry, history, and math topics that often mean nothing to them. Engineering makes it real for them. They get to actually see the math and science in action. Reading about the discoveries is not the same as actually doing the experiments yourself.
I especially want my stunts who feel like they can't do engineering or STEM to realize that they CAN do it. Girls can be engineers. People of color can be engineers. People who are low income can go to college and be engineers.
I want my students to feel like a part of something on campus. I want them to be proud of their work and excited to be at school.
