Mario Gallegos Elementary is located in the beautiful city of Houston, TX and is part of the Houston Independent School District school system. Houston Independent School District is the largest public school system in Texas and the seventh largest in the United States.
I am honored and thankful to lead the launch of the premier Visual Arts Program at Mario Gallegos Elementary! Our campus, one of two within Houston ISD, is part of the districts' fine arts initiative - traditionally devoted to educating students through music. We are launching the Visual Arts Program for the first time in campus history! Though we are strong in spirit and will, we are starting with a very limited amount of tangible resources.
Our school is currently educating approximately 400 inner city children in Houston's East end. We meet the various needs of our Pre-Kindergarten through Fifth grade kids within the community.
