Technology is a part of daily life, and having tablets for our classroom will help my students acclimate to this type of technology before they go out into the community and/or work force. We plan to utilize this technology in the classroom by listening to audio books, using educational and functional apps, researching various professions and interests as well as sending and receiving emails- which is an important life skill my students will be learning this year!
This type of technology will be a game changer for all of my non readers, and those who struggle with the fine motor capabilities that are needed to operate a keyboard and a mouse. Having a touchscreen device will allow students who struggle with fine motor to navigate and utilize technology more effectively. Having headphones for these devices will allow students to work independently without distraction, and will allow multiple students to work at one time without disrupting the rest of the class. I believe that having tablets and integrating this technology into our daily classroom routine will greatly benefit my students and their success through their high school career and beyond.
