Students will learn to design their own piece of sequential art. We will "keep it lit" by using art to express high levels of energy. We will study examples of character design, looking at unique shapes and forms and personalities.
Students will create their own backstories for their creations. They will write a narrative and learn to "pitch" their idea. We need paint, brushes, paper and a drying rack for this project.
Students will then dive deep into panel design. We will study different forms of sequential works, from Egyptian hieroglyphs to modern day political comics and graphic novels. Nontraditional materials like paints will be encouraged. Final projects will included painted renderings of conceptual art and final graphic presentations of individual narratives.
