With 20 students in my class, it would be disruptive for all 20 students to play sound from their game, at the same time. It would make it hard for students to focus on the specific skill they need to master.
Headphones will allow students to not just play Math games, work on skills, learn facts, but also enjoy the fun sounds and story lines that come with it.
For example the students hear a sound when they get an answer right or wrong that motivates them. Some programs students use explain how to work through math problems, which makes hearing clearly important.
