I have over 20 high school students with moderate to severe disabilities in and out of my room each day for various classes. These classes are Fundamental Math, Language Arts and Life Skills. We do a variety of activities to keep my students engaged while creating meaningful lessons that will equip them for life outside of high school! We work on pre-vocational activities such as matching and sorting. We work on various Life Skills needs such as cooking, cleaning, hygiene and community skills (grocery shopping, recognizing community signs, etc.). In Math we work on number recognition, telling time and basic addition and subtraction just to name a few topics. Everything I plan for class I do with intention of helping them succeed in the world outside of school. We use pencils, markers and glue sticks at an alarming rate!
