By starting the love of books at an early age, students will want to become readers for life. The best way to teach a child to read is to read exciting, meaningful books to them daily. I will use the books for read aloud lessons. I will read stories out loud and then as a class we will explore the books story elements to help students with comprehension. They will also complete activities related to the story. I will also create a classroom library where students will be able to sit and enjoy reading books. By starting a classroom library, the students can become engaged by reading and listening to books. Books are not just filled with words but are filled with places to go and people to meet! I will also use the listening books and phones to incorporate into small groups. Students will be able to go to the listening station to listen to the books read out loud and follow along with the words. By creating multiple reading stations in the classroom, I hope to create a love of reading. Reading is the foundation for success in education.
