These funds would be used to purchase a new electronic balance(s) and calculators for our classroom. In a lab situation, it is ideal for students to have enough materials, so that they do not have to continuously work in large groups where a high engagement level is difficult to maintain.
By increasing the number of balances in our supply, I hope to alleviate congestion in my lab during procedures where accuracy in measurement of chemicals and materials is vital for experimental data analysis, lab safety, and guarding against waste of our science budget. Congestion can also lead to less efficient class periods and off task behavior.
Scientific calculators are an important commodity in the classroom. Students need to feel confident calculating figures that involve scientific notation.
