Adding to my collection of reading recovery books is important because I want my students to be well rounded readers. I need to have a variety of different texts in order to teach them new vocabulary and reading skills. It is important for my students to have choice in what they read and I want to make sure that I have a diverse collection of texts for them to choose from.
Many of my students do not have books at home. The books used during our lessons will be sent home daily for the students to practice and return. They get so excited to be able to bring books home to share with their families and even their stuffed animals and pets!
