My students need books at levels they can read to build a strong foundation for reading. They need books to practice reading at their independent level since many of my students do not have these resources to practice at home. We need a listening center to engage our minds in a variety of fiction and nonfiction text and to learn how to read fluently. We need clipboards and letters to begin making words so we can becomes authors and share our stories with the world. We need alternative seating to help our minds engage when our bodies need to wiggle and move.
These literacy tools will help my students become readers, writers, and scholars and help us cultivate a love of learning.
