My students will use white boards and dry erase markers as they work on math problems solving. The problem solving activities will allow for additional practice in small groups, where my students will not only practice their problem solving strategies, but will also work on their academic oral language skills.

EL students who are learning the social and academic language of school often struggle with the high language demands of problem solving (story problems) in mathematics. There are often multiple steps involved. These materials will help students make sense of the grade-level problems they encounter regularly in their classrooms.
