Students learn best when they have the freedom to move and be active. My third-grade scholars spend a lot of time mastering challenging tasks that require focus and effort.
The goal for my current and future learners is to provide them with an environment that feels like home, because they are indeed at home when with me. Increasing their comfortability while providing them with the opportunity to focus, is what’s most important.
In order to establish this goal for my classroom environment, they will need flexible options that allows them to wiggle and move, all while remaining engaged with various tasks! With flexible/alternative seating options, students can use their energy in the most beneficial way.
The best part of using alternative seating options is that they can use them all at any point of the day! During small group math and reading rotations or whole group instruction, alternative seating can provide learners with the chance to move! The options are endless!
