My class is in a newly opened school serving many students that are English Language Learners. My class is hardworking and thrives when lessons can be enhanced with technology.
My students love to learn using technology. To enable my students to have more time on technology we need Chromebooks. Students are mandated by our district to complete 90 minutes of I-Ready (45 minutes in reading and 45 minutes in math) weekly. Having only three Chromebooks in class makes it difficult to achieve this goal without missing academic lessons. It is difficult to use the computers to enhance lessons as well as completing this required time on the programs. Many students do not have access to computers at home. It is challenging when there are not enough computers in class to complete assigned work. It would greatly benefit my student if we could be funded for these Chromebooks to complete their required program time. We would also be able to use them to enhance learning activities such as researching further into Social studies lessons or viewing a Brain Pop video to increase their understanding of Science or math concepts.
