What is a Maker Space? "Makerspaces provide hands-on, creative ways to encourage students to design, experiment, build and invent as they deeply engage in science, engineering and tinkering,鈥 Jennifer Cooper. Adding these items to our classroom Maker Space will help my students have a hands-on way to learn how the world around them works. They will have the opportunity to build and create using the MagnaTiles. They will also have the opportunity to solve engineering challenges the the STEM bundles from Lakeshore Learning. Giving them this opportunity for some concrete learning allows them to become better thinkers and innovators.
Building up the Maker Space in our science classroom is going to create a foundation for these young engineers to understand how things work. When they understand how things work, my students have the opportunity to become the people who will invent new and better ideas for all of us!
