One thing I have found that keeps students engaged in lessons and projects is allowing them to move around the room for choice seating. My students need flexible/choice seating to enhance and optimize their learning. I am asking for five bean bag chairs so that students have mobile seating that is comfortable and they can move to a spot where they will be most successful. I am also asking for 6 stability cushions for students who need to have a seat low to the ground. These are important for students who have active bodies who need to move around while they work. This allows a space for them to rock back and forth or balance, while staying seated, and not disrupting the work of others around them. We have a combined classroom with 46 students, therefore it is important for students to sit close the presenter, and chose a seat where they can comfortably work and listen.
Students are currently sitting on the floor and would benefit from a more comfortable seat to complete their work. They would use the choice seating for group and individual work. This flexible seating would allow students a variety of seating choices, and would help them get a front row seat to their learning. The bean bag chairs and stability cushions will make a big difference for out students.
