Since many of my students are beginner readers, watching educational videos helps students get a deep understanding of the topics we are studying. Also, since my students are visual learners, having a document camera will ensure they can follow the lesson both orally and visually. This included math activities where we are using cubes to add and subtract numbers. In writing, they can all see my example and use it to help support their own writing.
It can get loud in our classroom, especially when students are working on different activities. Noise canceling headphones help students stay focused and avoid getting distracted. Many times during the day I am working with a small group and the other students are engaged at independent or partner centers. Some centers include the hear myself sound phone that help students listen to how they read to help their fluency. Students can explore place value with stamps. Multiplication is a new concept introduced in third grade. A visual representation will help students grasp this difficult concept. Students are so proud of themselves when they can accomplish a task on their own. The independent center activities will ensure students improve their skills and confidence by being able to work on an activity independently.
