We are doing a project with the book, Wonder. The book is about a boy who was born with severe facial deformities and has been homeschooled his entire life. The story takes place during his first year in public school--the year he starts middle school.
Through this project, my classroom will become a Wonder "certified kind" classroom and the students will learn about diversity, tolerance, and most of all--showing kindness.
We will read the novel and will unpack theme, character development, plot, point of view, author's choice, and central idea. We will also incorporate character building and lessons on what it means to be a kind person, inside and outside of the classroom.
