Each morning my students and I meet to have a classroom meeting. I ask the students to greet each other, share their personal news, and discuss and share their opinion on current events. We use our classroom meeting time to build community and celebrate our similarities and differences. Many of my students open up about their personal struggles and goals for their day during this time. We also will have restorative classroom circles in order to resolve classroom or social problems.
In order to have a comfortable meeting space, we need a large rug that make students feel safe and at home. I need a large rug that is age-apporitpriate but large enough to fit 27 students and 1 teacher.
