This project will bring STEM to the Autism program. Our center-based high needs program is fairly new and we are still developing the curriculum. The kids are extremely creative and eager to learn. In general, the students have not had the opportunity to create projects to foster their understanding of technology, science, and math while also using art within the classroom. When presented with this idea the kids were extremely excited. Not only would the projects help with their academic knowledge, it would also improve their self-esteem. The kids would feel like they are able to accomplish whatever the mainstream kids are able to. Hopefully, this will encourage the love of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math while fostering a passion for life long learning.
