This year, I began using flexible seating in my classroom. I had proven to be very motivated to students. Student have the option of seating in the seat that helps them to be the most product, because just like you and I not all of them do their best work sitting in a hard chair at a desk. This has also had alternate benefits. I have far less tardies because students are motivated to get to class on time to get their favorite seat. Items like the yoga ball and stationary pedals have been very helpful in keeping my students with ADHD in their seat and participating in the day's lesson. Unfortunately, I do not have enough of these items right now to meet all of my ADHD students' needs at the same time. It also helps the students to feel comfortable and safe in a classroom environment that feels more like home. For many of these students, they are looking for comfort and safety. Flexible seating has helped give this to them even if it is only for a couple of hours.
