I started late in the school, and I was not able to do a lot of preparation before starting. Some of the teachers in the building provided me with materials. One being the rug in my classroom. Currently, I have a tan rug that is very old but a new and colorful rug will not only brighten up the classroom to provide a more engaging environment, but it will also be the spot that my students will want to go to to read and work with one another. The rug I selected has squares that will also be designated spots during lessons and will help students focus more during instruction times.
