With such a wide range of student needs to service, I am often pulled in multiple directions at once and need to use other tools to make sure that my students are successful. When I cannot be there to assist some of my students with their writing projects, they can use the chromebooks to type their work or they can dictate their thoughts to a program that will type for them. If we are reading a text in class and students need to hear it read aloud, they can use the audio books I provide to them on my classroom website to listen to it during reading time. My students have a very difficult time learning new skills the Ipad has thousands of apps to help my EBD students. The apps will be used for communication, literacy development, ulary learning and simply for motivation. Ipads serve as a great tool for learning and communication which are two areas my students struggle in. Since iPads are customizable, I would be able to tailor it to my students specific needs and create personalized lesson plans.
These Chromebooks can help provide the accommodations that my students require and they can help them be more independent without relying as much on teacher support. This is important as we are now pushing to have more special education students included in the regular education classroom rather than being pulled out to a separate setting for services.
