My students live near 2 major Air Force Bases in Northwest Florida. 50% of my class has one or two parents serving in the military. The other half of my class is on free and reduced lunch. Our school is a Title 1 school. This means that over 53% of our school is on free or reduce lunch. A lot of my students and their families have been suffering from economical difficulties these last couple of years. Every student in my class is trying hard to learn to read. Some students are reading very well but others need extra help. Half of my class does not have a children's book at home. The only books they ever see are the ones in my classroom. This is were I need some help. I need new and exciting books for them. I have not been able to purchase any with all the budget cuts at our school.
