I teach a semester long enrichment class. I have one group of kids the first semester and then another group the the second semester. I focus on designing and then creating projects to be tested (rockets, parachutes, boats, airplanes, towers, catapults) Right now the materials we use are plastic bags, construction paper, cardboard, tinfoil, and other materials found around the house.
I want to give my students real life hands on experiences. I have my kids use the Hour of Code website and practice coding and programming but the addition of a 3d printer and a CNC machine will give them the opportunity to see a product.
I would use the 3d printer to enhance projects that I am already doing. Make some of the parts of the project with the 3d printer as opposed to making parts out of paper.
