Our classroom in in need of a listening center. This listening center will consist of a single cd player with six headphone jacks. This will allow up to six children to listen to the story at the same time. Also included in the listening center are headphones and books with CDs.
With so much technology available, students are turning to books less and less. This listening center will keep books in the hands of young readers which will encourage them to develop that life-long passion for reading.
When students have access to stories and books that are read to them, they develop vital literacy skills. These skills include comprehension, fluency and critical listening.
