Some of my students are nonverbal, echolalic or have very limited vocabulary; therefore, having an iPad in the classroom will allow them to participate and express their wants and needs. Being able to express yourself is something most people take for granted. However, for my students, it is a daily struggle. They often get frustrated while trying to communicate and start to cry because they cannot be understood.
An iPad in our classroom would help build my students' confidence and independence. They love technology since it is very engaging. The iPad would help improve their understanding of the environment around them, express themselves and learn new skills. We also will be able to explore apps beneficial to students with Autism.
