In order to inspire exploration, I am requesting items to make learning hands on. As part of the framework for a PYP School, the focus is on the concept of the whole child which includes academics, social and emotional well being and an emphasis of values and how they actively apart of the world. To address all these aspects these materials will provide activities which will foster independent inquiry and exploration in various classroom groupings (whole group, small group, centers, and independent work stations). While integrating sensory manipulatives such as Fidgets, chair bands, and Wobble Cushions I will enable students to focus on the task at hand. All the STEM objects including the Brain Flakes, puzzle pieces, Monkey String, Straw Constructor will allow the students to express their knowledge,problem solving abilities, explore and make connections and to create original ideas. Lastly, the white board easels and erase circles will build foundational skills for peer relationships by giving my students opportunities to work together as a team and to come up with solutions, short answers, or opinions.
