I have an amazing class of 22 5th graders, 15 boys and 7 girls. There's a lot of energy and love of learning in my classroom! Students enjoy sitting in flexible seating (we have no desks!) and I enjoy having them sit on the rug in close proximity when I'm teaching. We have class meetings every morning to develop and strengthen our classroom community. I greet students every day at the door, with a handshake and a smile. Some students have created a special handshake to share with me!
My students particularly love to read and to write, we are working on personal narratives and telling their experience from inside the story so their reader can feel in the moment with them. They ask for more writing time every day! Math has proven to be a bit more challenging. But my super power is helping students learn to love math, and I've already had success - students tell me that they're changing their minds about the subject!
