Fourth graders are becoming more independent workers. Every student has different learning preferences and students love having choice. Student behaviors often arise because students want to have some choice. Allowing students to choose a seating option where they will best learn can help to lessen these behaviors. It is important to me to create and maintain a safe, positive, and comfortable classroom environment so my students will feel confident sharing, asking questions, and taking academic risks. Students are more engaged when they are comfortable and can move around.
These products aren't just pieces of furniture; they are tools that will help meet the various learning styles of my students. As a second year teacher, I would love to build up the seating options in my classroom. Last year, I was blessed to win two wobble stools at a staff meeting. I drew names daily to select which students could use the stools last year. Students were so excited when his/her name was drawn! The wobble stools and stability balls will allow students to move around while they learn. This kind of movement improves their alertness and focus. The portable chairs will be great to use during independent reading and partner work. The colorful stools are a fun option compared to traditional desk chairs and can easily be transported around the room. My students love being able to move around the room during different parts of the day. I know my students will be so excited about these awesome seating options that will help them be successful in the fourth grade!
