By providing the tools for our greenhouse maintenance, students will have the opportunity to engage in differentiated educational experiences. For example, I have currently been trying to teach my students about pruning because we have fruit trees in our greenhouse area, but have limited supplies. I can only work with three to four students at a time with the supplies that I have, and increasing the numbers of pruners, rakes, shovels, etc. will increase the productivity of the students on work days. When we provide hands-on experiences for students, they are able to learn not just by seeing, but by doing what is taught. These students are "learning to do, doing to learn, earning to live, living to serve." By increasing their personal skills and talents, they become diversified individuals that are better prepared for their futures.
