This three-day professional development workshop focuses on learning how to develop the underlying processes necessary for teaching reading, spelling, and comprehension to students with disabilities and struggling learners. Visualizing and Verbalizing is specifically focused on developing cognition, comprehension, and critical thinking. I will learn how to address underlying weaknesses in comprehension that often undermine the reading process. With this knowledge, I will be able to design and implement targeted individualized interventions, using a research-based approach that develops the sensory-cognitive processes that underlie reading and comprehension. I am excited to make a difference in the lives of the children I am fortunate enough to serve and to bring this program to my school where I can share what works with other teachers. It is so important that students have access to quality instruction rooted in success.
