Learning that life is not always fair, about having empathy for others and perseverance in life, are all lessons my students will learn about with this text. When students have their own copy of a text, it allows for the students to become more involved in the discussions and dialogue that occur.
Students will be able to follow along and read at home without having to share copies of the text we are reading the story as a group. This will allow for all students to be able to read together, cite passages and be involved in discussions. Students will use this as a living document. Students can cite passage, open discussions and use examples from the text to support their claims.
