My students have not experienced a regular school year since kindergarten due to COVID-19. Students have been in and out of school due to sickness and quarantines. They have a lot of skills to practice. They need extra reading practice and instruction. The reading center will provide a special place for many activities. They will love listening to books and reading great literature. The carpet will be colorful and a place they can sit to read their new books.
Reading is so important to my student's future success. Students need phonics, fluency, and comprehension. We will practice these activities at our reading
center.
Some of the books I chose I will read aloud to help them get back into the classroom routine. Julia Cook, the author/counselor has written books my class needs to hear over and over again.
The Magic Tree House books and Diary of a Wimpy Kid books will be great for them to read themselves.
I love to read children good books. Our read-aloud time is the best part of our day!
