This kidney shape table will make a difference in my students' learning because they will sit no more than an arm's length from the teacher as they work in small groups or one to one instruction learning how to read.
Students will collaborate on the large anchor chart paper using the Sharpie markers to share and build off of other students' ideas. Reading instruction will look like the following: guided reading groups, small group phonics instruction, and small group writing lessons based on genre study.
This will make students more willing to actively participate as they are close to the teacher and can speak softly to their partners. This will be particularly helpful for shy students or students who are nervous trying out a new language.
