This project will give students the opportunity to explore literary themes through young adult literature.
Literature circles give students the opportunity to interact with and discuss text in a rich and meaningful way. By owning a copy of the book, such as Wonder, Inside Out and Back Again and Esperanza Rising, each student will be able to annotate the text without fear of damaging the textbook! As we begin our literature circle journey, these books will show evidence of being read ranging from highlighted sentences to dog-eared pages as students put into practice the skills they have learning in class. Our mentor readers will also join us in literature circles to create an inter-generational community of readers enjoying great books!
