JAG(Jobs for Arkansas Graduates) is a school to work class teaching careers, life skills and learning while doing. A majority of my students have part time jobs, and receive high school credits for working. (similar to DECA) We learn how to get a job, keep a job and the importance of working as a team, not only in the classroom but on the job! I also try to introduce career options the students may not have known or thought about, and have them job shadow on Ground Hog Day, so they have a real vision of what it is like to own your own business, or be an accountant. First semester we have mock interviews, and second semester we talk A LOT about financial literacy.
This is the first year we've had a CAREER ASSOCIATION, and this is the first club many of these students have EVER joined.
