The books I'm fundraising for represent a wide range of stories written by and about LGBTQ+ authors and characters from diverse racial, religious, and cultural backgrounds. Presently there are no LGBTQ-themed books in our school library, and this project will change that. Adding LGBTQ literature to our library will not only help GSA members feel more represented at our school, but will also allow all students to share in the struggles and celebrations of diverse queer characters. Reading about the lives of different people helps develop empathy, understanding, and respect for diversity--helping us build a welcoming environment for all LBGTQ+ students.
