We are excited about these books because they are high interest for the students in my class. They are at an appropriate reading level for second grade and they support the new reading program our district just purchased. We want to give kids the opportunity to use real literature to practice the skills that we are teaching in class. We all know that doing is more powerful than telling. The learning goes so much deeper when it is something you enjoy while your are practicing something that is new and may be difficult. These high interest books will do just that. Give kids the opportunity to practice their reading skills while enjoying a funny and heart warming story.
